This is the end of a work i started last year. I had to quit during winter as it’s too cold to paint in my workshop… two frames of 150x100cm… So yes, in total it’s more than 3 yards wide… Flamboyant is a tropical tree with an incredible flowering that covers the leaves…
The idea of this painting was to forget the leaves and branches to focus on the flowering and its shiny red ! Just the flowers, on a neutral background to underline the shapes, contrast and color !
Only cadmium red for the petals, so that it is as red as possible (even too red for my camera to get it all (or maybe i’m too bad a photographer…)) The more remote flowers are lighter than the ones at the foreground, to play with deepness.
Obviously, these paintings are meant to be displayed on a white wall.
Flamboyant Flowers I & II, oil paintings on canvas, 100x150cm (2080€ each or 3000€ for both)
